In the Fall of 2023 I was able to participate in a group show at Melt Studio + Gallery. It was their annual fall show, Decay. I had learned of the gallery much earlier in the year but hadn’t been there in person until the day I was dropping off my painting. To say I was wowed would be a bit of an understatement. I was kinda floored by how beautiful the place is. It’s located in Picton at a former military base called Base31 (I mean that’s an abbreviated history, so if you wanna know the whole story you can always go to their website). Anyhow, it is pretty gorgeous there.
After Decay ended I was able to be a part of their holiday show, Give A Little Bit. This time with four pieces, which I was very excited about. I embarked on a small framing adventure…
Three paintings, ready to hang! ‘A Clear Day,’ ‘Prevailing Winds,’ and ‘1996.’ The fourth was ‘Passing Clouds’ from the Decay show, which, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, was already framed by this point.
There’s ‘1996’ up in the corner. I enjoyed both shows and was more than happy to be a part of them. Though I have to say again that the gallery itself is just beautiful. The old wood buildings on Base31 really struct a chord with me. I recommend seeing it for yourself!
