Stained Glass Continues… The First Few Pieces

Stained Glass Continues… The First Few Pieces
April 11, 2026 by coreycanvas

Ok! So we have established that I have some glass, some equipment and a place to work! Not a bad start, eh? Around the same time we were decorating for the holidays and Tiffany dried some citrus to hang in the window. The first time I saw sun coming through them was a real a-ha moment. Of course! Citrus!

My first design was a citrus segment. And then perhaps obviously, the second was a bird.

I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say I learned a lot from this piece.

I did manage to improve it though, hence the good good learning.

Now it’s not like I didn’t learn anything from the Red-Tailed Hawk design here, but it went a lot smoother than the lime.

Finally all soldered up!
The hawk turned out great! I’m quite happy with it. The last step was adding a chain and hanging it off-centre for that soaring feeling.
The lime turned out ok in the end. I followed it up with an orange and a lemon which were improvements. I have however retired this design. Back to the drawing board! Like I said, lots of learning to be done here.
